Security Officer

Job Summary
To ensure security procedures are followed in store through:
Having an integral role in the development and delivery of store stock loss action plans
Demonstrating a clear understanding of areas of loss within the store i.e. stockroom, tills etc.
Carrying out security checks to prevent both internal and external theft

Ensuring fitting room operations are properly carried out
Ensuring till point security standards are maintained at all times
Ensuring security initiatives are implemented in order to keep stock loss to a minimum within the stockroom
Observing potential security risks and taking positive steps to eliminate them
Providing support and advice to store management and also use of security equipment
Handling theft (whether internal or external) professionally at all times

To support the store management team in achieving personal and store objectives through:

Showing a genuine interest in other people and willingness to help
Using initiative at all times
Having the ability and willingness to acquire job related skills and knowledge through self development and by learning from others
Demonstrating flexibility in order to meet store needs and special events e.g. sale, peak trading periods
Liaising with Head Office department/Regional Security Manager as necessary
Carrying out additional duties as and when required within the defined levels of responsibility and accountability for their role e.g. acting as a key holder, training other staff.

To demonstrate the ability to establish an accurate, efficient and appropriate course of action for themselves and others to ensure all security tasks are completed to Company standard and on time.

To communicate effectively with line management to ensure:
Adhering to all Company policies and procedures e.g. timekeeping, absence reporting procedures etc
Adhering to management direction within the store in accordance with Company objectives
Awareness of and actively supporting Health and Safety policies to ensure that standards are adhered to and maintained at all times
Actively support and communicate with colleagues, customers and managers, to support the reduction of loss within the store
Monitoring fire, Health and Safety standards and liaise with store management to eliminate any concerns


Essential Criteria
Employment is subject to the provision of an approved police check
Previous Security / loss prevention experience
Flexible approach to working hours i.e. able to work reasonable additional hours, public holidays and Sunday in line with the needs of the business
Desirable Criteria
2 years experience in retail
Existing retail security experience
Experience operating security related systems
GCSE level Maths and English or equivalent
