Position Summary:
With responsibility for the protection of people, assets and reputation in a unique environment, this role requires people and performance management experience, risk assessment and mitigation, technical security knowledge and a professional approach to delivering the highest standards of service and flexibility under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the day to day Security requirement at Christie’s King St. Ensure the combined security teams (in-house and contracted) are well motivated and trained and that the function is correctly aligned to business requirements and context.

• Responsibility for 3rd party security contracts, key performance indicators and setting and maintaining standards.
• Responsibility for ensuring 3rd party security costs remain within budget.
• Ensuring proportionate levels of manned guarding are implemented daily commensurate with viewings, sales, events, threats or incidents and that auditable records of 3rd party security spend are updated daily.
• Ensure all security staff are polite, prompt and smartly attired.
• Manage all aspects of physical security, including manned guarding and oversight of technical security systems and control room activities. Deputise for the Head of UK Security in his absence.
• Assist with the management of any off-site security requirements within the UK.
• Promote the Christie’s Values.
• Ensure all security staff are briefed and able to provide advice and support for clients as required.
• Work closely with counterparts in other Christie’s locations; ensure the consistent delivery of operations in accordance with the Corporate Security Policy and procedures and Health and Safety policy and procedures. Undertaking security risk assessments and drawing on judgement and experience, ensuring that plans, procedures and training are constantly updated and utilised to deal with the possible range of current threats.
• Liaise with all key stakeholders, both internally and externally, including Specialist Departments, Insurance & Risk, Art Transport, Facilities Management, other Operations Departments, local law enforcement, Art & Antiques Unit at Scotland Yard, Customs etc.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant local/international laws and regulations.
• Monitor, react and advise on security developments (generally) and security incidents (specifically). Manage investigations into any incidents.
• Promote security awareness and embed a culture of collective and individual responsibilities for practising good security at all times.
• Undertake operational duties where necessary, supervise operations in person for key events, exhibitions, previews as required.
• Be available at any time for emergencies, working with appropriate others to provide advice and assistance, taking all appropriate steps to resolve emergency situations.
• Ensure due diligence and surveys are conducted across all 3rd party companies handling property including restorers and external storage facilities of art.
• Collaborate with Facilities on all relevant areas of Fire management and Health & Safety.
• Collate all activity via monthly written reports Conduct internal training including Customer Service, Situational Awareness, Art Movement Policy courses and any other specific security associated courses when required.
• Be willing to travel occasionally within the UK and globally.
Desired Experience:
• Relevant corporate security industry experience, in particular risk assessment and management, security management, security planning and preventative measures.
• Contract security management and change management
• Understanding of risk management principles.
• Investigations, interviewing, evidence gathering, statement taking and report writing.
• Experience of operating in or with a commercial organisation.
• Working knowledge and experience of alarm systems, CCTV, access control and fire alarm systems.
• Working knowledge of the PACE Act 1984, the Theft Act 1968, the Data Protection Act 1998 in relation to CCTV operating procedures and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety Order) 2005.

• Effective, fast and precise in MS OFFICE applications.
• SIA licensed.
• First Aid at Work qualification.
• Security management qualification.
• Full driving license.
