Job Description:
The Deputy Security Manager is responsible for the delivery of all security, parking and traffic related services for the campuses at Canterbury and Medway ensuring the safety and security of people, premises and assets associated with the University.
The role holder will be expected to maintain high standards of performance and communication both within the security team and also with other key staff within the University, including Heads of Departments and College Masters.

The Deputy Security Manager will take on the full responsibility for day to day operational matters, to ensure that duties / events / incidents are managed in an efficient and effective manner .

The Person
The successful candidate will have a security/security management related qualification to NVQ Level 4/ HNC/ HND or equivalent work experience, teamed with GCSE English and maths or equivalent .

With demonstrable experience within security/operations or similar background and line management responsibilities, you will need g ood IT skills and the a bility to communicate and build effective relations at all levels within the organisation and with external stakeholders .

The postholder will need to be flexible in terms of working flexible hours/shifts as required by the Security Manager and being a ble to work without direction using their own initiative.

The Department

The Estates Department provides a number of essential services to the University of Kent and is responsible for managing, maintaining and developing the infrastructure and building fabric of the various campuses.

The Department has responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of the extensive grounds and buildings, the security of students, staff and visitors, transport and travel; a postal service and the telephone exchange as well as the University Design & Print Centre. It is also responsible for the buildings, new developments and construction projects both at Canterbury and at our Medway campus at Chatham Maritime and on the Chatham Historic Dock Yard .
