Job description

We are looking for a Security Officer to join the MSS Group at one of our client sites in Cardiff.
This is a fixed term contract with the potential to lead to a permanent position for the right candidate.
A valid SIA Security Guarding or Door Supervision license is essential for this role.

Key responsibilities of the role are:
· To provide a first class point of contact for all internal and external clients and visitors. Contact may be made by telephone, 2-way radio, email or in person.
· To be responsible for ensuring all visitors are briefed and understand Health and Safety matters pertaining to the site and are issued with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
· To carry out internal and external patrols of the customers site, buildings and perimeters where required.
· To provide a central point of liaison between the customers’ management team and the emergency services as required.
· To have a customer focused approach to the role, where the principle aim is to provide a welcoming and supportive service to all visitors to site, providing solutions rather than problems.
· To present yourself in a professional, approachable and helpful manner at all times, in terms of both image and attitude.
· To represent the prestige of the customer through image and conduct.
· To answer incoming calls in a professional and helpful manner, directly assisting callers or taking responsibility for directing them to the correct person.
· To greet visitors & contractors, ensuring they understand the potential Health and Safety risks on site by conducting a thorough briefing and explaining why and where PPE needs to be worn. This may be in the form of a site safety induction or a simple prepared statement.
· To take responsibility for ensuring that all customer and visitor Personal Protective Equipment is in good working order, presentable and clean.
· To control in a safe manner, the vehicle movement and car parking on site as directed.
· To carry out internal and external patrols as directed by the Security Supervisor.
· To use expertise and local knowledge to discuss with the Security Supervisor any vulnerable areas and judge the necessity of additional patrols in any given area as a result of your assessment.
· To report any suspicions in the format specified by the Security Supervisor / KAM.
· To carry out dynamic risk assessments during patrols to assess potential breaches of security on site and liaise with the Security Supervisor / KAM to eliminate them.
· To complete a full and comprehensive handover with the on-coming Security Officer(s), detailing site/perimeter conditions, any work carried out and any areas requiring further investigation. This is all to be logged in the Security Report Book.
· To liaise in a calm and effective manner with the Security Supervisor, customer’s management team and the emergency services during alarm situations or incidents requiring emergency support. To act on instructions swiftly and calmly to assist in minimising risk to people and property.
· To work within guidelines specified as best practice under the SIA Licence and to retain a current valid SIA licence throughout your time with the MSS Group. You are to exercise great effort in minimising delays in obtaining your renewal.
· To work to the assignment instructions prepared for the role at all times and not deface, annotate or alter them in any way.
