Serco`s Prisoner Escort and Custody Services (PECS) contract for London and the East of England makes a critical contribution to the Criminal Justice System in England & Wales, by ensuring the safe, secure and decent transport of prisoners between courts and their associated prisons and police stations.


Overview of Role
Reporting to the Head of Professional Standards, your primary responsibility as Head of Security and Investigations will be to provide security advice, assurance and investigatory support across all Secure Transport Locations. You will ensure Custody Suites and Vehicle Bases are managing security in accordance with corporate, contractual and regulatory requirements in order to safeguard the people, physical and information assets.

You will aim to ensure security monitoring and compliance testing systems are in place and operating effectively, as well as having established processes and control measures in order to mitigate/reduce threats, vulnerabilities and risks.

You will support with the delivery of security related training and education and also ensure that any breaches of security are investigated in line with National Security Framework (NSF).

Using data effectively, you will report on security / investigation-related information and analysis.


About You

As the successful candidate you will be able to evidence working within a Security Management role and have practical experience of ISO27001.

Preferably, you will also have experience working within a Custodial Environment and be proficient in conducting investigations.

As a minimum you will have achieved an A Level in English (or equivalent) and it is desirable if you have membership of Security Institute (or another recognised body).


Specific Requirements

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 which requires the successful candidate to undergo screening for spent and unspent convictions and approval from the Home Office.
