Security Services Manager

£35,000 - £42,500 + benefits (depending on experience)

The successful candidate will hold or be working towards a Security Diploma (BTEC Level 5 or higher) or hold an equivalent management qualification in a security field. They will have strong management experience of security staff preferably in multi-site security control room operations in a medium to large public sector, retail or fast moving and/or financial services environment.

They will have knowledge of criminal law in relation to other security matters e.g. theft, criminal damage, arson and assault and also knowledge of legislation in respect of CCTV control rooms e.g. Home Office and the Information Commissioner’s Office Codes Of Practice, and the Society’s obligations concerning the Data Protection Act 1998, Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000.



The successful candidate will be required to exhibit excellent administration, computer and management information analysis and presentation skills with a good knowledge of general health and safety practice and be experienced in risk assessment.


Core Activities of the role include (but are not limited to):


Responsible for the operational management of the security service team, ensuring the team provide excellent service levels across the Society.

Ensures team are recognised as the “first point of contact” and initial resolution for all staff in the Branch Network and Head Office sites for all security related faults, issues and incidents.

Utilises specialist knowledge to lead the transformation of the security services team. In the provision of a best in class comprehensive CCTV control room and security operations service.

Develops the effective performance and capability of the security services team to enable effective delivery of key operational activities in a consistent manner.

Responsible for the proactively developing, monitoring and reviewing MI to produce comprehensive MI reports for the team. Recommending and implementing changes to processes and procedures to improve operational effectiveness of the team.

Ensures any future plans for the security service team are communicated to team members in an efficient, positive manner and that all staff understand, and are supported to deliver them in line with the Security Policies and procedures.

To ensure effective line management of the operational security services team:

Provides development, support & guidance to staff

Plans, develops and reviews the performance of staff throughout the year in respect of objectives and core activities, in accordance with the Society’s Performance Management System.

Recruitment and selection of staff.

Ensures that staff adheres to the Society’s Sickness absence policy, carrying out home visits and disciplinary procedures where necessary.

Planning and delivering coaching and development to ensure effective knowledge transfer to enhance knowledge and ability.

Develops as an individual to increase personal effectiveness



A flexible approach to working hours is required as you will be required to be on out of hours support rota.

* Travel is also a key requirement of the position as you will be required to attend sites across the whole of the Society’s estate.

There will be a working rota including days, nights and weekend @ 08:00-20:00hrs and 20:00hrs to 08:00hrs respectively. These will be based on a 4 days on, 4 days off, 4 nights on, 4 nights off rota system (4 on 4 off)
