Security Manager

An opportunity has arisen at the British Museum for a Security Manager to undertake key management responsibilities in the Security department to support the implementation of the security strategy to ensure the protection of staff, visitors and collections of the Museum.

This role will hold responsibility for security operations such as managing security duties for staff, radio communication, systems and initial response. As Security Manager, you will be well equipped to respond to situations proactively and professionally, as they arise. This is a key role for ensuring the successful operations and safety of the UK’s leading museum.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable security experience at managerial level and knowledge of risk assessment for security issues. Experience of working in the cultural/heritage sector and an understanding of emergency, business continuity and disaster recovery planning techniques and technologies would be advantageous.


With a flexible and personable approach, you will lead by example and will respond to situations proactively and professionally at all times. As an excellent communicator, you will be able to liaise effectively with colleagues across the Museum. You will plan work effectively and identify areas for continuous improvement.
