Vacancy Overview 
The Perimeter Security Specialist will maintain and support the corporate technical and operational Perimeter Security environments at an advanced level in order to provide a quality service to all the customers of IT. The post holder will be the recognised technical subject matter expert in the Operational Security Team within Enterprise IT, and will attain an in-depth understanding of EDF Energy’s business needs and Company objectives.

A key aspect of the job will be to participate in an out of hours standby rota covering Perimeter Security to manage operational problems outside of normal working hours. It is a requirement of this role that the post holder either holds, or can obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.

Framework & Boundaries
The post holder is required to work within the following frameworks:
IT technical, security and support frameworks;
Supply Chain frameworks;
Capex, project management and investment frameworks (EEPW, PD, Agile PD); and
Enterprise IT governance frameworks.
Principal Accountabilities Transformation Accountabilities
Support future enhancements to the services and products provided by the Perimeter Security team.Operational/Programme Accountabilities
Provide second line Perimeter Security support services on technologies including firewalls, Internet proxies, intrusion detection & prevention systems and security log and event management systems;
Be responsible for the prioritisation and clearance or escalation of Perimeter Security incidents reported through the EDF Energy helpdesk reporting system, or escalation process;
Review and install new Perimeter Security infrastructure as required by projects or as part of operational upgrades and migration of services, as well as inspecting them to ensure they are optimised and managed in order to meet security and compliance requirements;
Perform Perimeter Security system and infrastructure maintenance and regular inspections;
Effectively communicate with internal customers to understand, identify and resolve their Perimeter Security requirements;
The Perimeter Security Specialist may from time to time be asked to assist in the overseeing of contractors and vocational trainees, additionally deputising for the Perimeter Security Team Leader.
Liaise with internal and external service providers and third parties;
Provide Perimeter Security infrastructure performance and service summary reporting to the Operational Security Manager;
Use specialist knowledge gained to identify opportunities to improve customer support and reduce costs;
Act as Perimeter Security technical lead in project planning meetings and workshops as required by the Operational Security Manager;
Participate in an out of hours standby rota covering the Perimeter Security infrastructure working without direct supervision and manage operational problems outside of normal working hours;
Skills and Qualifications Knowledge and Skills
In depth knowledge of Perimeter Security environments;
Knowledge of ITIL best practices;
Industry knowledge of security best practices;
Working knowledge of project management methodology (EEPW, Prince 2);
Awareness of contractual agreements between EDF Energy and its IT service partners;
Awareness of energy, generation, supply industry and EDF Energy ambitions.


Qualifications and Experience

Experience of implementing and supporting a Data Loss Prevention Solution (ideally ForcePoint);
Proven experience in supporting Perimeter Security environments;
Experience of working in a nuclear regulated environment;
Experience of working with IT security compliance, risk and governance practices;
Experience of representing the company in meetings, forums with external stakeholders;
Experience of coaching others;
Vendor and security accreditation;
Foundation ITIL practices.


Salary Range Starting from £44,010
