Post Security Manager (Part-time) - Trinidad and Tobago

Main purpose of job

To support the protection of the British High Commission’s people and assets by managing our operational security measures, monitoring and supervising our guarding contract, and supporting our crisis preparedness and response.  This is a part-time role (20hrs/week).

What will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

Manage the operational security measures across the BHC estate, including liaison with the private security company contracted by the BHC, day-to-day supervision of the guard force and monitoring of delivery against key performance indicators (KPIs).

Offer security support and assistance to the staff and personnel working on the BHC compound and to UK based staff and families, including briefing new arrivals.
Provide 24/7 security officer emergency cover (attracting a 5% on call allowance and time off in lieu (TOIL) for any out of hours call outs.  On call not applicable to scheduled leave).
Liaise with external contacts and develop a security network, including the TTPS, private security companies and corporate security.
Represent the High Commission at monthly diplomatic security coordination meetings.
Manage occasional large events at the Residence, including preparation of car parking arrangements, event emergency plans and guard briefing.
Act as the Deputy Fire Safety Manager, conducting weekly Fire Safety Audit Checks and maintaining the Mission Fire Safety Manual.
Manage the day-to-day running and monthly testing of our communication tools including VHF radio system and satellite phones.
Manage our crisis store, maintaining inventory records and ensuring availability for crisis use.
Develop an earthquake plan in liaison with the Consular Team and Organisation for Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM), and deliver an annual training exercise to the BHC staff.
Provide ad hoc security support to the Deputy High Commissioner and Corporate Services Team, including conducting residential security surveys on potential new properties.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience  
Essential:

A minimum of 3 years experience in the security industry, military or law enforcement at managerial or supervisory level.
Proficiency in IT and report writing.
Experience managing or supervising and training staff.
Possession of a clean driving licence.
A positive and flexible attitude.
Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Desirable:

Experience of working overseas or for an international organisation.
Senior-level contacts in local law enforcement.
