Job Introduction:
The Country Manager will be responsible for the setup and delivery of the new G4S Risk Management South Sudan business plan.  The Country Manager will conduct Business Development, generate qualified opportunities, prepare the new business ready for the commencement of service
delivery and manage the new business unit. The Country Manager will be expected to engage at a senior level with clients as well as form strong business/resource relationships across the wider Risk Management & G4S Group in order to develop business, identify leads and generate sales opportunities.
The incumbent will be located at Juba, South Sudan. He/she may be required to travel with in country and region – East Africa. Initially an Expat Operations Manager and a small team of Local Nationals (LNs).

  • Mine action services including Weapons Reduction and Explosive Ordnance Management
  • Development and reconstruction services.

Role Responsibility:
  • Develop the addressable market for G4S RM in SS across all new planned service deliveries.
  • Commence and achieve business start-up processes, sizing the business opportunity and liaison with public and private sector partners and potential clients.
  • Manage the day to day business from a financial and operational perspective and have ultimate management accountability for all aspects of G4S in South Sudan.
  • Design, develop and implement the South Sudan strategic business plan in conjunction with the business development team and in alignment with RM’s intent
  • Promote and grow new business by proactively marketing and selling the G4S brand and ensure that G4S is given the opportunity to bid for all contracts arising.
  • Manage the balance between client, contract obligations and company interests; meet expectations of clients while operating within G4S policy, audit and financial parameters.
  • To direct, formulate and / or approve policies and procedures on service quality, pricing and customer relations.
  • Contract Management and customer service management, taking responsibility for all in-country client portfolios.
  • To direct G4S RM SS towards providing an effective, efficient and profitable service.
  • To ensure that the correct level of skills, education and experience are identified for management and other LN positions and to recruit adequate persons to fill these positions.
  • Line-manage nominated key staff including production of periodical written and verbal Performance Appraisals in accordance with HR Policy.
  • To identify and initiate strategies that will add growth to the business to ensure its long term profitability and survival.
To maintain close contact with the workforce through key managers to ensure feedback opportunities, the maintenance of good morale and a high standard of staff integrity and honesty. To formulate and / or approve wage increases in line with management agreement.
  • To maintain a clear communications path to the shareholders so that key issues confronting the Company are promptly identified and kept in focus.

The Ideal Candidate:
To be considered for these roles candidate CV’s MUST be able to demonstrate the following:
Experience:
  • African Experience – preferably familiarity with business start-up in austere environments
  • Preferably ex-Military / Police experience (Africa / developing world)
  • 5+ years’ experience in a business and / or operational senior management position.
  • A track record of success in business leadership. An emphasis on sales, marketing and complex operations management is critical and the ability to run a business unit and have P&L responsibility.
  • Customer-facing and sales-orientated, allied with strong operational discipline, with responsibility for driving the business in a fresh and innovative direction.
  • Ability to develop long term strategic relationships with stakeholders in government, commercial and development organisations.
  • Experience in establishing medium-term growth strategies and strong operating mechanisms for performance.
  • Knowledge of the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Experience living and working in a professional commercial capacity overseas, preferably in a hostile and low infrastructure environment
