Job Summary

The Physical Security Specialist works as a core component on the team and is responsible for the implementation of cost effective physical security solutions to mitigate exposures of loss to TJX Europe

Key Responsibilities
Using relevant available information, identify the areas of risk to the business, research technical solutions, identify and develop business cases and financial justification to stakeholders
Maintain database of all company sites indicating all equipment and services used within each location
Instigate and manage trials where necessary with relevant stakeholders to prove the technologies meet the required objective and provide analysis along with conclusions and recommendations to stakeholders
Verify relevant Capex and Purchase Orders raised for equipment/services ensuring that expenditure is within a productive use of expenditure and within appropriate budget
Verify relevant invoices in accordance with purchasing policy ensuring all charges from service providers are accurate and reflect completed works. Resolve queries and escalate where appropriate
Specify design of physical security systems to ensure a consistent approach across the business..
Develop upgrade and changeover strategies to ensure maximum longevity is gained of the physical security assets
Partner with project managers to ensure all installations by LP direct service suppliers are carried out within the project deadlines. Manage exceptions and provide solutions to facilitate deadlines being met
With key stakeholders and suppliers design create and keep updated user guides, and training material, to ensure operational best practice with regard to use of all physical security systems.
Provide as necessary demonstrations of new equipment/technologies and ongoing support to up skill all relevant business partners to ensure they are able to use the equipment effectively
Be conversant with all relevant Laws and Legislation with regard to physical security systems, escalate likely upcoming breeches of legislation and work with other functions to resolve
Where appropriate represent Loss Prevention on project teams for corporate driven projects
Have a general knowledge of Loss Prevention and Risk policies, procedures and educational materials

Physical Security:

Validates execution and maintains productivity of the team and process through effective training.


Ensures adherence to policy on a daily basis. Redirects team and escalates concerns with controls through effective influencing.


Escalates concerns to senior mgmt/ LPM.


Validates ideas to improve systems and feedback to line manager.


Validates execution, redirects team and feedback results.

Crime Resolution:


Utilise specialist skills and knowledge to drive results.


Develop effective solutions to deter crime.


Deploys coaching and validation, generating solutions and specialist advice to identified risks.


Uses feedback from line and colleagues to build on and develop external partnerships.

Education & Awareness:


Provides advice on grass route solutions and seeks feedback from line on the effectiveness of programmes.


Delivers awareness programmes and feeds back improvement suggestions.


Champions the topic and validates business partners knowledge and awareness, seeks feedback on content.


Checks reports and data, takes action to improve performance, trains and coaches associates and team and raises concerns.

Operational Compliance:


Checks, liaises and monitors key compliance areas, and business partners to ensure training and awareness programmes are used, coaches team to improve.


Uses different communications methods including meetings, one to ones and briefs to ensure lap team and associates are fully aware of all exposures.


Raises issues which need to be addressed and ensures action is taken to resolve as a result of the escalation

Helps with setting of objectives, and validates inductions are planned and take place for functional team and associates. Assists with recruitment as directed.


Responsible for training team and developing self and team.


Ensures team are competent and works with business partners to assist with associates.
