Port Operations & Security Manager

Requirements:

• Experience of working within the shipping, port operations, logistics or cruise industry.
• Experience of implementing cost efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Passionate about customer service and operational quality.
• Self motivated, with a flexible approach to work. Disciplined and organised with the ability to act in the role of decision maker.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a small professional team, whilst also working on
own initiative and unsupervised.
• Ability to plan, show attention to detail under pressurised situations and meet tight
deadlines.
• An excellent communicator, with good interpersonal skills.
• A sound knowledge of Health & Safety related matters and willing to undertake further
training.
• To be financially aware and have a good understanding of controlling costs.
• Have experience of building strong relationships, both internally and externally to the
organisation.
• Flexibility is essential to this role, and you should be willing to work outside normal office
hours as required.
• Once initial training has been completed the candidate will be required to be part of the
weekend duty cruise roster.
• Full current driving licence
• Must also be proficient in the use of IT software.

Main Duties:
• As a member of the operations team, you will be required to support the Head of Port
Operations in managing all port related activities.
• To be a duty cruise operations manager responsible for the facilitation of smooth and
efficient cruise calls, including the day to day personnel management.
• Liaise with cruise customers and relevant stakeholders to produce cruise vessel lay on
sheets, post cruise vessel reports and plan for any other cruise vessel calls as required.
• To be the main point of contact for allocated cruise and port customers. Working with each
customer to meet theirs and the organisational requirements, whilst also trying to exceed

their expectations (This may include, but is not limited to, working on projects, inaugural

events etc.)

• Manage ABP’s security cruise contractor during allocated cruise calls, ensuring ISPS

compliance is retained in line with ABP Southampton’s port plan. (please note this is the

only aspect of security that this role covers)

• To be main point of contact for allocated general port customers

• Receive, monitor, follow up and respond to any customer / stakeholder complaints /

concerns relating to the operation of the port.

• Proactively ensure the port’s general appearance / cleanliness is maintained to a high

standard, where concerns are identified, following these up and working with relevant

stakeholders to resolve them.

• To implement processes and procedures into the department where relevant.

• Proactively and flexibly respond to the changing requirements and situations within the port.

• To ensure Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work, along with any other safety and

compliance requirement relevant to the port, are implemented and kept up to date.
