Our staff help prisoners to turn their lives around and complete their time in custody as more capable, confident citizens who can make a constructive contribution to the community. Our prisons deliver education, training, rehabilitation and resettlement programs.

Serco is currently seeking a Safety and Security Manager to join the team and maintain safe and secure working environments, driving and administrating an integrated safety and security quality system and its compliance throughout the Court Security and Custodial Services contract across our Western Australia sites.

The key responsibilities of the role will be to:

-Actively track and analyse safety and security incidents
-Investigate and assist managers to generate detailed investigation reports
-Implement appropriate control measures and preventative strategies within specified timeframes to ensure all sites are achieving similar levels of compliance
-Assist the Workers Compensation and Injury Management team
-Develop monthly Health, Safety and Environment and security reports and reinforce specific issues
-Train and support line managers to manage Security and OH&S risk prevention
-Maintain systems for recording required data
-Maintain all documentation and records of incidents and events
-Travel to all Metro and Regional sites to conduct audits as required
-Support delivery of the contracts Operational Assurance Scorecard
-Maintain Zero Harm and Zero Escape absolutes.

The successful candidate will have:

-Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
-Experience in HSE management positions
-Proven experience with security audit processes and policy management
-Experience working within a secure and multi-disciplined environment
-Enthusiastic approach to work
-Strong analytical skills
-Knowledge of OH&S legislation and relevant Australian Standards and Codes of Practice
-Experience in a senior role, leading a multi-functional team
-Willingness to travel on a regular basis
-Experience of a risk based approach to Security and HSE management
