Assistant Security Manager-LON002257

Description

As the Assistant Security Manager at the Andaz London Liverpool Street, I play a key role in ensuring the effective delivery of all aspects of Security and Health & Safety. From a Security perspective, I oversee a committed and diverse team of Security Officers who deliver a constant presence in the hotel, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I have to ensure that all Security Officers are confident in their role and have a full and in depth knowledge of all necessary legislation and procedures relevant to their job role.

Training is not only limited to my team but also all employees here at the Andaz. Delivering legally required Health & Safety Training (Manual Handling, COSHH and Risk Assessments) as well as ensuring all new starters are familiar with the Emergency & Fire procedures is also vital. Here at the Andaz and within Hyatt in general, we strive to deliver our purpose of ‘we care for people so they can be their best’; with this in mind, I create and deliver training on a one-to-one and group basis on topics such as Security Awareness, Active Shooter, and Crisis Management amongst others, this all helps to ensure employees feel comfortable and safe in their working environment.

In my position it is important to maintain close and effective working relationships across all departments in the hotel. For example meetings with F&B and Sales Management to discuss Security Manning for specific events and outlets within the hotel are necessary. It is also important to work closely with Security agencies to ensure manning requirements are met as well as creating a close relationship with the local Police force. Management of the Access Control and CCTV Systems is also vital to ensure that all incidents involving guests, employees and visitors to the hotel are fully investigated and the relevant reports produced and communicated.

Additional duties include the management of Lost Property within the hotel, administrative duties such as managing the payroll and rota for the department, performance management and having the flexibility and ability to cover the role of Duty Security Officer when required. My job is to ensure that the team and all the employees in the hotel have the confidence, ability and knowledge required to be able to adapt and thrive in difficult and challenging situations.

Security in hotels can often present some weird and wonderful situations! I really enjoy the diversity of the job itself, no two days are ever the same and the team motivate each other to be the best we can be and ensure all our guests and employees are in a safe and secure environment. Working for a brand like Andaz is really exciting as well, there’s always events happening and the forward thinking nature of the company helps keep things interesting and fresh.
