Marine Security Advisor

Job Description 
To provide maritime security support to the Company Security Officer and Global Maritime Security Assurance Team (GMSAT).
Provision of this support would encompass but not be limited to:

Running the administrative process associated with vessel clearance of vessels that are on Company business (managed and chartered) through High Risk Areas;
Engaging with the Company's Ship Management Leadership Team and Superintendents;
Engaging with the Technical Managers of third party companies who have vessels on Company business;
Working closely with other divisions in the business, including the Ship Quality Assurance Team, Trading Freight Desks and Commercial Operations;
Contributing to the build-up of the global maritime intelligence picture;
Briefing of vessels that are about to commence the transit of a high risk area;
Coordinating the GMSAT inspections of vessels
Disseminating relevant intelligence/security information to vessels on Company business, including the provision of intelligence update briefings to vessels prior to voyage departure.
Requirements The incumbent is expected to be responsible for the understanding and implementation of all Maritime Security procedures, process and protocols intended to enhance the maritime security of vessels in which the Company has an interest. 


For this function this leads to the following requirements:

Thorough knowledge of shipping operations and ship/shore interface management;
Self-motivated, professional with ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
A team player with the necessary communication (oral and written) skills to interface with other disciplines and external stakeholders;
The ability to maintain an organized schedule in times of peak work load;
Preferably has maritime experience having sailed as a Senior Officer e.g. Master or Chief Officer.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including teamwork, are essential for success in this position.
Languages skills: Fluent in English spoken/written;
HSSE knowledge of effective management of HSSE Risk.
