Job description
Background Our Central Government client is
looking to take on an Operations Security
Specialist to work a three month contract based
in Worthing. A vacancy has arisen for a security
specialist within the IT Live Services team to
ensure IT operational security processes are in
place and to work with colleagues to make sure
they apply those processes. The successful
candidate will have experience of working with IT
security systems preferably in a government
environment and will be familiar with drafting and
maintaining ITIL processes. S/he will have
excellent customer relation skills and be confident
to make decisions under pressure. Strengthening
the IT team is a key part of the Agency's plan to
professionalise IT. Information technology
embraces all of the Agency's activities and is at
the heart of the core business and at the leading
edge of interfaces with the public, clients and
customers. The Operations Security Specialist will
be responsible for the operation and management
of security aspects of all IT systems. S/he will
advise, develop, implement and maintain
operational security policy, plans and processes.
S/he will also ensure that security metrics are
agreed and that compliance is monitored and
reported on issuing issue periodic security reports
to Security Management. The Operations Security
Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that
anti-virus protection is up to date across the
department systems and monitors managed
hardware, including physical firewalls, within our
network. S/he will support the development and
release of new or changed IT services by
assessing operational change controls and by
conducting compliance tests prior to new or
changed IT services going live. In addition, s/he
will act as an escalation point for operations
incidents and liaises with third parties on
operational security matters.
