Intelligence Analyst, Sub-Saharan Africa
AKE is seeking a specialist in the political, economic and security issues of Sub-Saharan Africa. The successful applicant will produce high-quality intelligence from a number of open and closed sources to assist a range of public- and private-sector clients with interests in the region. Duties will include:
Producing analytical reports on a variety of political and security risk issues in the region.
Maintaining subscription-based services such as daily briefings, incident alerts and country profiles.
Face to face consultancy with a range of clients, particularly the insurance sector and media clients.
Liaison, administration and management assignments as the company sees fit.
Requirements
The successful applicant will:
Be educated to post-graduate level in a relevant discipline: international relations, security studies and specialist language or area studies.
Be able to produce high-quality written and spoken assessments of complex political, economic and security issues.
Have a good appreciation of the business environment and investment climate in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Have a familiarity with a broad range of regional publications and both open and closed sources. Regional contacts would be advantageous.
Be confident, easy-going and willing to engage in presentations and public speaking from day one; be adept at meeting, conversing and engaging with a wide variety of people.
Be a proficient user of Microsoft office suite or similar software.
Be fluent in written and spoken English
Be capable of exercising discretion and maintaining confidentiality.
The successful candidate may also have the following desirable skills:
Time spent working or living in the region.
An understanding of open source intelligence gathering methods.
Any additional languages.
